Writspo: Oscar Wilde Quotes
Thursday, June 20, 2013 by Miss K in Labels: ,

For those of you who didn't know, I try to post writing inspiration, or Writspo for short, fairly often to keep those of my readers who are also writers galvanized and hopeful.  After all, inspiration to write can come from a great many places, such as a newspaper article, a picture, or anything else that might spark the imagination.

Oscar Wilde is known for spouting almost impossibly witty and profound things, so here are a few of those things to consider.  Enjoy them, and if you want to read about the kiss shield his tomb received a couple of years ago, you can check out my post on it by clicking here.

Boy born at 11:11 on 11-11-11 to vet on Vets Day

MOUNT HOLLY, New Jersey (AP) — Jacob Anthony Saydeh won't have any trouble remembering precisely when he was born.
A U.S. hospital says Jacob entered the world at 11:11 a.m. on Friday — 11-11-11.
And to make the Veterans Day birth even more remarkable, the boy's mother is an Air Force veteran and his father is serving in the Air Force.
It's the second child for Staff Sgt. Christopher Saydeh and his wife, Danielle. They are a third-generation military family.

Writspo: The 15-Year Itch
Thursday, December 1, 2011 by Miss K in Labels:

Like I said before in my first Writspo post, I'm going to be sharing any interesting articles I come upon with you.  Why?  Because many great authors take inspiration from picking up the morning paper and scanning the headlines.  The more intriguing tidbits found there can make for some really amazing stories for you, because no matter what happens or has happened to the real subject of the article, you have the creative freedom to try and concoct a story for the character that they might be.  Just remember not to use something high profile, because people will quickly recognize the real story in your work!  But the one below is just right, and wouldn't it make a great start to a mystery story?  Happy writing, everyone!

In what authorities have deemed a homicide, a woman in Kent, Washington died last week from injuries sustained during a 1996 shooting.
Lakessha LaShawn Johnson, 34, was found dead at her home on Nov. 8, but not from any recent injury or crime. Kent Police Lt. Patrick Lowery said Johnson died after complications from a gunshot wound inflicted more than 15 years ago in either Renton or Seattle.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office said today that Johnson had been shot in the spine, leaving her paralyzed and suffering from "multiple chronic pressure ulcers," the medical equivalent of bed sores, which became infected over time. They have not yet said whether the bullet was still lodged in Johnson's body at the time of her death.
"We will be reaching out to both [police] agencies to determine where the original shooting occurred and pass this information on to that agency," Lowery said.

So here's another little tidbit I thought I could offer to the writers who read my blog: Writspo.  That's short for writspiration, which is short for writing inspiration,  which are things that might help kick-start you toward that next great poem, story, or even novel!  I'll be periodically sharing quotes, pictures, articles, stories, music, etc. that I find all over to keep you motivated or just give the creative spot in your brain a little poke.  I hope you enjoy these quotes first few quotes, and good luck writing!
